Where to Eat in Faraya and Kfardebian
Where to eat in Faraya and Kfardebian: Em Bachir Saj on the drive up, La Jonction by the slopes, Chez Cheker for dinner, ODIN for après.
Written by the host of The Nest, a one-bedroom chalet in Faqra at RedRock, 8 minutes from the Mzaar lifts. Rates and dates.
What to Know
- Em Bachir Saj on the way up, 07:00–15:00, the breakfast stop.
- Chez Cheker in Kfardebian: rustic Lebanese, fireplaces, open all year.
- ODIN Mzaar runs late for après; L'APRÈS is the quieter option.
- Many spots are seasonal. Call before driving outside ski months.
The mountain does four kinds of eating well: saj on the drive up, quick lunches by the slopes, long rustic dinners, and a loud après-ski night. Here is the short list we actually send guests, all within fifteen minutes of the chalet.
On the way up
Em Bachir Saj, on the road up, is the breakfast stop: zaatar and keshk straight off the saj, open 07:00 to 15:00. If you are driving up in the morning, arrive hungry. It closes mid-afternoon, so it does not work as a dinner plan.
Lunch near the slopes
La Jonction sits by the Mzaar slopes and does the job mid-day. You can be back on the snow in an hour. On busy Saturdays everything at the base fills between 13:00 and 14:30; eat early or late.
A proper dinner
Chez Cheker in Kfardebian is the reliable answer: rustic Lebanese around big fireplaces, and open all year, which is rarer up here than you would think. Book ahead on winter weekends. Many places on the mountain are seasonal, so out of season always call before driving.
Après and late nights
ODIN Mzaar is the main event after the lifts close: cocktails, live music, and it runs late. L'APRÈS is the smaller, quieter alternative. Both fill up on Saturdays in season.
Eating in instead
Half the point of a chalet weekend is not going out. The Nest has a kitchenette for light cooking, a grill and fire pit on the private lawn (a small bag of firewood comes with the stay, extra is charged), and the shops toward Faraya deliver. Stock up on the drive rather than coming back down. The Beirut to Faqra guide lists where to stop. Planning the weekend around it? Check dates and rates.
